South Tapanuli – Realitasonline.id | South Tapanuli (Tapsel) Regent Dolly Pasaribu attended the diversion of the Batang Toru River—a step required for the construction of the dam for the Batang Toru Hydropower Plant (PLTA) mega-project undertaken by PT North Sumatra Hydro Energy (NSHE)—on Monday (July 10, 2023).
In addition to Regent Dolly Pasaribu, the river diversion event was witnessed from the edge of the dam site by NSHE President Director Mr. Du Yubao, PT PJB Investasi Operations Director Mr. Wirawan, and PT PLN Nusantara Power Business and Commercial Development Director Mr. Muhammad Reza.
The Batang Toru Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 510 MW, is situated across three districts: Sipirok, Marancar, and Batang Toru.
Regent Dolly Pasaribu stated that the establishment of the Batang Toru Hydropower Plant is welcome news; it promises economic and income growth for the local community and represents a significant investment achievement for the local government.
“We hope that local residents can benefit from this hydropower plant construction, and that the plant’s management will employ people from South Tapanuli,” he said.
Dolly further noted that the project could create job opportunities, improve infrastructure, and advance the tourism sector across the three districts, thereby acting as a catalyst for economic growth in South Tapanuli.
Meanwhile, NSHE President Director Mr. Du Yubao, PT PJB Investasi Operations Director Mr. Wirawan, and PT PLN Nusantara Power Business and Commercial Development Director Mr. Muhammad Reza collectively expressed their gratitude for the support provided by Regent Dolly Pasaribu in ensuring the smooth progress of the Batang Toru Hydropower mega-project.
